Bahati member of parliament honourable Kimani Ngunjiri has alleged that, Jubilee Party today through cabinet secretary without portfolio, Raphael Tuju, who survives on elected party officials’ contributions to the party and ministerial hefty packages funded by tax payers today, in his own wisdom decided to reward a majority tribe (Kikuyu) with a minority (Ogiek) seat. He continued by saying that though Jubilee is a party not worth fighting for right now because of its dictatorial structure of leadership, it is quite unfortunate that following the demise of Nominated Senator Prengei who hailed from the minority Ogiek Community, the party decided today to reward the seat reserved for the small tribe in Nakuru County to a kikuyu from Nyandarua County by the name Isaac Githua.
That the errant decisions culminating to the choice of a majority tribe to replace a minority irks not only the Ogiek community but the entire Nakuru County where the tribe hails from. Politics of 2022 has been used to punish a tribe that is fully behind the ascendancy of DP William Ruto to the presidency. Jubilee party has told off the Ogiek with their proposals to have the minority seat reserved for them, with their sin being the support of DP William Ruto.
The lame excuse of age as a factor that led the party not to have an Ogiek fill in the seat of Senator Prengei is total hogwash. Tuju and company have treated the Ogiek with total arrogance and ridicule, as if the tribe has only one qualified candidate and thus they cannot get another younger person from the same tribe, after Peter was disqualified because of age. This are truly signs of a party on its death bed lead by people in political menopause stage and political alcoholics who cannot tell the difference between day and night.
He urged the president to save his face from ridicule and take charge, because it is clear that even a minor issue like proposing a minority and a PWD representative is a tall order for the people at the helm of the party leadership.
