'Big Fish' Murathe Refuses to Appear Before the Committee Over the KEMSA Scandal

The jubilee vice chairman David Murathe and two others refused to appear before the parliamentary committee instead they sent affidavits. The three walked away with ksh 4 billion contract from KEMSA.

According to citizen tv Murathes affidavit states that he has never served as a director or beneficiary in the kilig or Entec technology limited. He later states that he signed the kilig Limited bank account so that the supplier Entec technology would be paid once KEMSA completed the procurement process.

According to Mr.Chao's affidavit ,the owner of Entec technology, he was approached by Gachoka and Ivy Onyango with a commitment letter from KEMSA for the supply of PPEs and asked his company to arrange supplies from China to Kenya.

The two companies opened an escrow account to receive money from KEMSA then transfer to Entec's account.

The members of the committee were unconvinced by their affidavit.

"David Murathe was brought for guaranting the process and because he is a senior respectable kenyan to influence the process this is why we need him because kenyans want to see this big fish who influenced the payments in KEMSA,” Kajwang said.

They're to appear before the committee on April 29 2021.
