Braving the Isiolo residents yesterday who heckled at him chanting BBI slogans, Dp Ruto faced a rough turn of events this weekend. It was this week when President Uhuru Kenyatta said he will not hand over power to a thief. The Head of State also struck on Friday, daring his deputy to resign. His sufferings are only a tip of what will befall him as he journeys to State House.
As the DP journeys to State House, which his allies terms as 'unstoppable' two MPs from Mount Kenya region have given their opinions on Dp Ruto's presidential bid. The two MPs are Kieleweke members and are allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kanini Kega, the MP for Kieni argues that Dp Ruto is just a pace setter and that real runners are still getting ready for a bruising 2022 presidential elections. He added that the DP may see himself in front but then the bell is rung, he will discover things are different on the ground.
Nyeri Town MP, who is a founder of Kieleweke,Ngunjiri Wambugu claimed that the second in command is impatient. He added that 17 months is much for political events to turn around. He also added that Ruto is divided since he is the DP and at the same time, 2022 presidential candidate.
This means that Ruto should prepare well. Starting campaigns early, especially for presidency, requires enormous resources and good friends who are willing to support whatever it comes ahead.
