'Mnampatia Kiburi Mingi' LSK President Havi Says as He Predicts CJ Koome to end up Like Nancy Baraza

Kenyans continue to express mixed feelings about Chief Justice Martha Koome's membership of the multisectoral committee on 2022 election preparations.

Last week, allies of deputy president William Ruto accused the chief justice of jeopardizing her position as Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court. They further called on her to resign from the committee. The president of the Kenyan Law Society, Nelson Havi, has written a scathing Twitter post accusing Justice Koome of making a mistake by chairing the committee. "Let her retreat and do the right thing. Do not cheer her on or continue misleading her. She will end up the Nancy Baraza way," added the LSK President.

Nancy Barasa, a former deputy chief judge, resigned after being accused of threatening a security officer with a gun. According to the female guard, after refusing to be frisked at a shopping mall on New Year's Eve in 2012, the judge pinched her nose and pulled out a pistol.

Former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Martha Karua, in her reaction, claims that the onslaught on Justice Koome is intended to force her out of office.
