2 Uhuru CSs Who Reportedly Own State Agency Get Warned As Ruto CS Reacts After What He Discovered

Two cabinet secretaries who served in former president Uhuru Kenyatta's administration have come under focus after a discovery that they are listed as shareholders/ owners of a key state agency.

As The People Daily newspaper reports, former treasury cabinet secretary Ukur Yatani and former ministry of agriculture cabinet secretary Peter Munya are listed as shareholders of the new Kenya planters cooperative union (KPCU).

"The former cabinet secretaries Ukur Yatani and Peter Munya have taken over the ownership of KPCU. The CR12 that we were able to search from the registrar of or companies clearly indicates that the two are the owners which is completely unacceptable," Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba observed.

As farmers led by the MP complained, the matter was brought to the attention of cabinet secretary for Cooperatives, micro and small medium enterprises Simon Chelugui who warned that the situation is completely unacceptable. He said that he will take action on the matter.

"I know it is not a proper governance style (for the two ex CSs to own a public agency) but it is something that I will rectify," he said.

Munya and Yatani are currently out of public service and it is to be seen what the government will do against them.
