Eddah Wambui, a contender for the Kabete seat in parliament, asserted that since Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya party, was selected as Raila Odinga's running partner, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp has gained support throughout the Mount Kenya Region.
According to Wambui, things were difficult for Raila in the area before karua's selection as his running mate because Deputy President William Ruto appeared to enjoy widespread support. However, after Karua was named, things began to turn around for Raila.
"People are now more confident in Azimio, more candidates are coming forward to advocate for Raila's candidacy, and we have observed that the locals are now more supportive of Azimio's president,"
If the current trend at the grassroots level continues, Wambui predicted that the candidate will receive at least 30% of the votes cast in the region, if not the full amount.
She continued by alleging that the UDA party of the Deputy President and the camp, in general, appeared to have slowed the earlier momentum in their campaigns across the region. She contended that the Azimio camp might take advantage of this to conduct extensive campaigns over the next few weeks, which might help them in the August elections.
