As the country prepares to hold general elections next year on 9th August, the most heated race is that of the president as Uhuru Kenyatta gears up to exit office come 2022. The race to succed him will be so tough and key aspirants are Political darling Raila Odinga, deputy president William Ruto, OKA principals among many other leaders.
Mount Kenya region comprised of Kikuyus, the most popularous tribe with over 40% voters has now turned to be a centre of attraction from all the serious presidential aspirants. For the first time it appears that the region will not field a presidential candidate and as earlier declared by president Uhuru Kenyatta that other tribes should also lead apart from Kikuyu and Kalenjins.
Many presidential aspirants are looking at the possibilities of choosing a running mate from the region, below are the possible presidential running mates from the region;
She is the party leader of Narc Kenya and has been fighting for Kenyan rights from the 1990s. As a woman, she stands a better chance of becoming a running mate in the upcoming elections, perhaps its time women take up senior government positions.
He is the former cabinet secretary for Agriculture and the current party leader of TSP, he can make a running mate.
He is the speaker of national assembly, the leader can also make a running mate.
The Gatundu South member of parliament and Chama Cha Kazi party leader is very vocal in Mount Kenya and can make a presidential running mate.
The cabinet secretary for health has gained public reputation in serving at his current capacity, he can too have power to be a running mate.
