KKA Legislators Allegedly Unhappy After Mt Kenya MPs Get More Committee Slots in Parliament

Earlier, president William Ruto held a Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary group meeting at Statehouse where the team deliberated and shared leadership and membership slots in key Parliament Committees.

Even through the team agreed on sharing of committee slots, reports have emerged claiming that a section of MPs are unhappy with the list with a majority claiming that the committee leadership and membership list was prepared to favour a particular ethnic group.

Out of the total 32 sharable committees, MPs from the Mount Kenya counties were awarded the chairpersons' slots in a total of 15 committees. 15 legislators from the Mountain region will head 15 committees as chairpersons. This number is nearly ahalf of the total shared committees.

The huge number of committee leadership slots awarded to Mt Kenya MPs has elicited a silent and secret rivalry in the Ruto camp as MPs who not awarded committee leadership positions accuse Mt Kenya MPs of grabbing the positions.

Even the rivalry and finger pointing reports emerge, president William Ruto told MPs during the meeting that the list should not be changed but adopted in entirety by the house.
