More politicians have continued to show their interests for the 2022 presidential election thus brushing away the fact that this race will be a two horse race between Deputy President William Ruto versus Raila Odinga
The latest Kenyan to declare his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta is Jimmy Kibaki, son of former President Mwai Kibaki. Jimmy Kibaki has over the years been taking part in Kenyan politics behind the scenes by bankrolling presidential aspirants.
However come 2022, he has decided to go for top seat himself which hopes of scooping the head of state position just like his father
This was confirmed by billionaire Thuo Mathenge who is a key ally of Jimmy Kibaki. Thuo is also the party chairman of The New Democrats (TND), the part that Jimmy Kibaki is expected to contest with come 2022.
Despite lack popularity, TND is a mature party which was formed in 2017 where thr party walked away with 11 MCA seats countrywide and one position for parliament. In 2020, its candidate won Lakeview ward in Naivasha defeating Jubilee and UDA.
