Polycarp Igathe Pledges That Half Of His Cabinet Will Be From The Muslim Community If Elected

Polycarp Igathe; a candidate for governor of Nairobi has enlisted the city's Muslim population to back his campaign to succeed Governor Ann Kananu.

In exchange, the more than 600,000 community members were offered a 50% share of his cabinet should the former deputy governor of City Hall be elected the fourth governor of Nairobi.

Speaking to the community at the Sir Ali Muslim Club on Nairobi's Ring Road, Mr. Igathe declared his intention to empower the Muslim community and collaborate with them on an equal footing.

He committed to empowering madrassa instructors and imams around the nation while also fostering a welcoming environment for Muslims.

The candidate for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance further stated that he will ensure that Nairobi has an atmosphere that is favourable for business; citing the neighborhood as one of the city's premier business districts.

The ODM Secretary General and Nairobi senatorial candidate Edwin Sifuna, Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh, Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan and a number of other leaders were there with Mr. Igathe.
