The UDA party nominations in Elgeyo-marakwet is likely to determine of the person who is likely to take over from CS Murkomen. The seat fell vacant after president Ruto's move to nominate Murkomen into the Cabinet.
It's clear that the president though the UDA party leader, has kept nominations rather allowing the people to determine what they want. President Ruto is determined to ensure that the person who is nominated goes all the way to the ballot.
It's expected that going into the future, the battle will be between Azimio and UDA party in most of the by-elections. The hunger strike and the failure by government to fulfill some of it's promises has led to lower turnout in UDA nominations.
