Why Jubilee Party Financier Might Be Arrested.(photos)

A warrant of arrest has been issued against Jubilee Party financier Mary Wangui Mungai and her daughter Purity Njoki Mungai.

The two are the directors of Purma Holdings Limited.

They are accused of failing to appear in court over charges of ksh. 2.2 billion unpaid taxes.

Mungai is one of the people who helped the Jubilee Party to raise campaign funds during the 2017 General Elections.

They have also been accused of failing to honour a summon from the tax body the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Mungai is accused of failing to pay taxes despite getting a tender to supply boots, cereals and uniform to the Kenyan military.

Kenya Revenue Authority has said that they have been conducting investigations on Purma Holdings for two years where they found out that the company did not pay taxes between 2014 and 2019.

The court through it's magistrate Felix Kombo said that the ODPP had produced copies of documents showing that the duo were served with the summons.
