Raila Responds to Ruto After UDA's Letter to Uhuru, ICC

Hours after Deputy President William Ruto's allied party UDA wrote to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the International Criminal Court of Justice ICC over violence meted on its rallies, ODM party boss Raila Odinga has come out to respond.

This was after UDA through its Secretary-General Veronica Maina wrote to the concerned authorities including the president and ICC over alleged "state-sponsored" violence witnessed in most of its rallies.

And while replying to Ruto, Raila Odinga rubbished the claims that the state and ODM have been disrupting Ruto's rallies by marshaling youths to throw stones.

"There are some who are complaining that they are being prevented from doing their rallies, that ODM is sponsoring chaos of throwing stones, that's not true. Me najua watu wetu hawajarusha mawe na wale wamejua tutawashinda ndio maana wamebabaika" he stated

He was speaking during the Launch of voter registration in Nairobi county.

Raila went ahead to exclude confidence that he will win over Nairobi county votes, adding that Ruto's trips will not change anything.

"Hapa Nairobi uchaguzi uliopita Raila alipata kura 900,000 na Uhuru Kenyatta 700,00. Ukikutanisha ya Uhuru na Raila itafika 1,600,000 na kitu juu yake hapo agosti. Tutashinda na zaidi ya kura millioni mbili mwaka huu" stated Raila in Swahili

He went on to urge youths to come out and register in large numbers saying they will give out more money to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC to extend the registration exercise past six o'clock in the evening.

"Hii siku 21 iwe kama siku ya vita, hakuna kulala, kila siku ni kuamka kwenda kuandikisha, na ata IEBC wakitaka kufanya hadi usiku, sawa, pesa iko tutatoa"added Raila amid cheers from those present.
