According to Tuju, the NDC, which was scheduled for November 30th, 2021, was pushed to a later date because it coincided with the head of state's most important event of the year, the address to Kenyans.
The ruling party's spokesperson says there is no truth to reports that the meeting was called off due to the President's change of heart about the NDC's agenda.
"H.E the President, who is also the Jubilee Party Leader, will deliver the constitutionally binding annual State of the Nation address on November 30th, the same day as the Jubilee NDC," Tuju said in a statement to newsrooms Monday afternoon."Notice is hereby given that the NMC, in consultation with the Party Leadership, has postponed the previously advertised Jubilee Party National Delegates Convention (NDC) originally scheduled for November 30th, 2021," he added.
Tuju emphasizes that the NDC is a crucial event for the Party, and as such, a new date and location will be announced. He has assured party supporters that the delegates convention will go ahead as planned.
"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and encourage our party members to continue with other party activities while we await the new date," he added.
Among other things, the NDC has been urged to make changes within the party, including the expulsion of members deemed to be disloyal to the party led by Deputy President William Ruto.
