The police in Turkana were this week tasked by the commander in chief president Ruto to deal with cattle rustlers mercilessly and end the common rustling which has left many and especially security officers dead. An an order police established an operation dubbed Komesha Uhalifu where a multi agency team has already been deployed.
The operation which ouce started in North Rift has now spread to Turkana and has taken root. This, according to the police commander in charge will ensure illegal weapons are seized and those responsible charged.
Yesterday, in an attempt aimed at getting intelligence information from the people, the Multi-Agency Security Team held a fruitful consultative meeting with the local leaders and elders in Kulol Sub-Location within Akoret Location in Tiaty West and managed to recover one rifle with an empty magazine.
The police are now mounting roadblocks and doing constant patrols on the regions considered to be volatile and acting as hideouts for these rustlers.
