Rarienda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo was a no show during President William Ruto's tour to Siaya County on Saturday, January 14th, a move that forced Speaker Moses Wetangula to reveal the reason.
While making his address to the leaders and residents who had turned up in large numbers during the home coming and thanks giving ceremony of the ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo in Asembo, Wetangula said that Amollo is out of the country for an official visit courtesy of the national assembly.
"All leaders have come here to celebrate the success of CS Owalo, and do take this opportunity to confirm that the MP for this area is out of the country on my permission with a delegation from parliament. He did call me and told me to convey his gratitude to you Your Excellency for appointing Owalo from his constituency" said Wetangula.
Wetangula went on to call upon Kenyans to forget politics, unite and work together, thanking President Ruto for setting a good example of bringing all the leaders together irrespective of their political affiliations.
Ruto was in Nyanza region for two-day official visit, and has toured Homa Bay County, Kisumu and Siaya.
He met the elected leaders in those counties led by their governors Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay, Anyang Nyong'o of Kisumu and James Orengo of Siaya, and he also had the opportunity to meet Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko.
Despite being elected under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party which is in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, the leaders assured President Ruto that they are ready to work with him and the Kenya Kwanza government for the sake of development in their counties and across the region.
