After a gruesome campaign for the past couple of months, finally Kenyans went to the poll on 9th of August to elect a leader who will succeed the incumbent president Uhuru. Raila and Ruto both had a lot of supporters who were dancing to their tunes, however, during the voting day, voter apathy was experienced in many parts of the country sending shock waves across the political divide. Most of these supporters never showed up at the polling stations to vote making the elections to be watched closely.
Most people projected a landslide win for Azimio's flagbearer Raila Odinga as he had a lot of support across the divide, however, as things stand out right now, it's a tight race and too close to call. The big question is, why did Raila supporters shun the polling stations? As results keep on trickling from various polling stations, it's evident Raila will either lose or they will go for a run off something most candidates are fearing. This was the fifth and last stab for Raila and if he loses, it will be a done deal for him and a big blow to his die hard supporters who have supported him for a very long time. The so called Kenya's Mandela is staring at political retirement if numbers remain the way they are according to the projections at the IEBC portal.
