Tharaka Nithi county governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki has finally reacted to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance decision of not nominating senator Kithure Kindiki as his running mate ahead of the August 9 general elections.
The senator was conspicuously absent at DP Ruto's Karen residence on Sunday where the running mate ticket was presented to mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua. While the second in command had no problem if settling with either Kindiki or Gachagua, a majority of mount Kenya lawmakers who took part in the polls conducted rooted for Proffessor Kindiki to be given the task.
Njuki who said that it is the DP who asked the people of tharaka to allow him go and work with him in the national political sphere urged the county residents to remain positive with the decision made, expressing with a lot of hope that the senator will get a major cabinet job once Ruto ascends into office.
"“Let us not become bitter. We all remember that Tharaka Nithi has never produced any Cabinet Minister since independence. We are hopeful that Dr. Ruto will give us one of the best ministries.” the Governor said.
He also said that compared to Nyeri and other Central counties, Meru region cannot produce the many votes required since their polulation is way small and this is a game of numbers in order for one to win.
