A sharp division has reportedly emerged within Deputy president Dr William Ruto's inner circle as Western Kenya, Coastal region and Mount Kenya region leaders Clashes on who might become the running mate of Ruto ahead of the 2022 General election.
As seen reported by the Star media today on Saturday 22nd of May, a section of Coastal leaders have reportedly come out to challenge Mount Kenya region and western region leaders in contesting for DP William Ruto's running mate. According to a section of them who spoke to the papers, Mount Kenya and Western have produced many presidential running mates for decades.
The leaders from the five coastal region counties have argued that the region for a time, deserves to have a presidential running mate which is also being eyed in the other regions. This has seen Ruto's camp divided with Mount Kenya region leaders claiming that the running mate slot is theirs.
