“Ruto Will Exploit Railaphobia to Get a Victory” Political Analyst Speaks of Ruto’s Alleged Strategy

Both Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have attacked each other as they seek to woo Kenyans into supporting them ahead of the 2022 elections.

Political risk analyst Dismas Mokua has claimed that Ruto wants to take advantage of the “hate” that a section of Kenyans have towards Raila by wanting the presidential race to be between the two.

Mokua said with the race being between Raila and Ruto, Ruto will find it easy spreading the RailaPhobia especially in regions that are known not to be Raila’s stronghold.

This comes after Ruto recently changed his tune on working with Raila saying that the former Prime Minister is his most formidable competitor in 2022.

Mokua said the move by Ruto wanting to face only Raila is his strategy to take advantage of the Railaphobia which he allegedly thinks will guarantee him a big victory in the presidential race.

“Ruto is positioning the 2022 presidential race as a two horse-race so as to minimize the impact of Rutophobia and take advantage of Railaphobia. There is evidence to suggest that if voters are given the binary choice- Raila and Ruto -Ruto will exploit the Railaphobia and secure an overwhelming victory. However, a third force will give voters choices,” said Mokua.

The political risk analyst according to the Star claimed that if other candidates are introduced in the race then the two leaders will stop the politics of exploiting each others phobias and they will be forced to adopt a different strategy that will seek to woo Kenyans by what they have to offer.

“Kenyans must therefore encourage a multiple candidate race where candidates will be elected on the basis of delivery rather than exploiting phobias. Voters deserve choices,” added Mokua.
