The 2022 presidential election will be a battle between former political friends turned enemies. This is Raila Odinga and William Ruto. Ruto in a public rally in Nyeri county hinted on picking Mathira constituency member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua to be his running mate. Raila on the other hand has not yet picked his preferred candidate.
The choice of whom to deputize them will either make or break them. The politician to be chosen must have influence which will guarantee votes. Financial muscle is also of importance here as the campaigns need funding.
Raila Odinga is expected by many to settle on a leader from the Mount Kenya region. The list has been formulated by some political analysts. The names include Peter Kenneth, Justin Muturi, Martha Karua and Peter Munya. There are others who are not politicians the likes of Peter Munga the managing director of Equity Bank.
The OKA coalition has not yet settled on a flag bearer. There is an intense battle between Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.
