Teaching professional is regarded as a highly disciplined and organized sector. In the recent days, the profession has been receiving a lot of critics as a result of teachers going against the ethics and ethos of the profession. This has been greatly portrayed in the election positions held by KNUT and KUPPET.
The Kenya National Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) elections that were scheduled to take place on Sunday 24/1/21 at Geb Girls secondary in Homa Bay were cancelled following allegations that there was plans of rigging.
The allegations were raised by Team Petition for Change led by Mr. Owee Samuel who is eyeing the executive secretary and Victor Kibwana eyeing chairmanship when they accused Team Focus led by the incumbent Executive secretary Stephen Yogo and Jack Okoth the vice chairman for planning rig election after sensing the defeat.
According to Mr. Paul Maingi, the Kuppet National Organizing Secretary who was presiding over the elections, agreed to mutually cancel the event to another date when teachers became violent and unruly.
This comes barely one week after the same allegations of rigging and bribery of teachers was witnessed in Migori teachers training college where Migori kuppet branch elections were held.
