Uhuru Appoints Cherera, Wanderi, Masit And Nyangaya To Be IEBC Commissioners For Six Years

President Uhuru Kenyatta appoints Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit and Justus Nyangaya to be members of the IEBC for six years after Parliament approval.

In a circular notice dated September 1, 2021, president Kenyatta officially appointed Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya, to the job of IEBC Commissioners.

Their appointments came after the National Assembly passed the report of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, which vetted the four nominees forwarded by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The four Commissioners will be set to swear-in and resume their respective offices and positions.

The notice was done to mend a petition that was filed on Wednesday eying to prevent the appointment of the four Commissioners.

The hearing of the petition was to start up at 9am.

At the same time, President Kenyatta appointed the five nominees to the Teacher Service Commission who were approved by the National Assembly.

The five include; Nicodemus Ojuma, Christine Kahindi, Sharon Jelagat, Annceta Wafukho and Salesa Adano.

The appointees will be set to be sworn in by Chief Justice Koome.
