Unless he blows up his chance, ODM leader Raila Odinga will surely be sworn in as Kenya's fifth President after the 2022 general election.
Besides the 2007 poll, never has Raila gone into an election as such a hot favorite. And now enjoying the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the influential businessmen from the vote-rich Mount Kenya region, the former Prime Minister is the man to beat in the race to State House.
Now appearing to be surging ahead of the Deputy President William Ruto in the race for the Mount Kenya region, the 76- year old Raila will seems destined to occupy the highest office on land which has eluded him since 1997.

As for Dr Ruto who will be making his first stab at the presidency come the next general election, his will be baptism by fire as he absolutely stands no chance against a rejuvenated Raila enjoying the backing of an incumbent President and the "deep state".
If he can pick a good choice of a running mate , then nothing will stand between Raila and a famous election victory in the 2022 poll.
There is a general consensus that a running mate from Mount Kenya is all that Raila needs in order to win the presidency. But who could this be? Of course, the former Prime Minister has so many options to choose from. And whichever option he makes, his win will be guaranteed.

One man who can carry Raila's presidential aspirations is Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia.
A stalwart during the President Mwai Kibaki era where he was one of the key Government insiders, Kimemia transitioned into politics in 2017 having fallen out with the Uhuru regime.
A one-time Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Security and Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, during his heydays, Kimemia was running the show in the Kibaki administration.
With his long service in the area of administration and security, Kimemia is one man that Raila will need in his Government if he is elected President.
He may not be your astute politician, but the fact that he hails from Mount Kenya makes him one of the many options for Raila when he decides to pick a running mate.
With Kimemia on board, Dr Ruto stands no chance against Raila in the Uhuru succession battle.
