Regarded as President Uhuru Kenyatta's mouthpiece, Murathe had gone mute over the last few days especially after the collapse of the Building Bridges Initiative. So loud was his silence that people started speculating if he had fallen out with the Head of State.
But in breaking his silence, Murathe has lifted the lid on Raila's recent endorsement by the Mount Kenya Foundation, saying that the move never came as a surprise.

" It is something that we had been saying all along but some people thought that we are joking. Watch this space for yourselves and see how things are going to unfold," the former Gatanga MP said as quoted by TV47.
A key Raila backer, Murathe has long been rooting for the former Prime Minister to succeed President Kenyatta come the next general election.
At one point, he told Kenyans to prepare for the "Mandela moment" in 2022 by voting for the ODM leader as the country's fifth President.
With Murathe's new declaration, Raila is now clearly emerging as the frontrunner in the Uhuru succession race. For Deputy President William Ruto, things could be about to get thick.
