Aaron Cheruiyot Breaks Silence Hours After Martha Karua is Unveiled by Raila as His Running Mate

The Kenya Kwanza reaction to the spontaneous jubilation witnessed during and after the introduction of Madam Martha Karua as the Azimio la Umoja running partner candidate has been mixed.

Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, for example, has recently alleged that the massive crowd that gathered to celebrate Martha Karua's selection as Raila's deputy was paid for by the state.

On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, on a morning KTN broadcast, the senator rejected the celebrations, alleging that the government, by supporting Raila Odinga, wanted to portray Raila's event as favorably accepted by Kenyans.

"I heard my buddy Otiende mention the intermittent festivities that occurred yesterday, but I'd like to clarify that they were sponsored." Some people even flocked to a certain stadium in Kiriyaga to celebrate. "Who doesn't know that the state was behind everything," Cheruiyot said.

Even the bodaboda operators who were hooting in the streets around the country, according to the Kericho senator, were paid to put on a show.

In comparison to the Kenya Kwanza presentation, the Azimio reveal of the running a candidate appeared to be more lively. Perhaps it is for this reason that the Kenya Kwanza top brass are unhappy, because politics is a game of perceptions.
