"Strive To Revive Agriculture Instead Of Giving Relief Food" President Ruto Told

President William Ruto took over government at a time when the country was experiencing extreme drought and hunger. He therefore started to collaborate with other leaders to distribute food in different parts of the country. Even though rains have started and some places are now safe, distribution of food still continues. ICT cabinet secretary Eliud Owallo has been in charge of food distribution in Nyanza region. This is something that has not impressed National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi.

As People Daily reports, Wandayi has urged the national government under president William Ruto to strive and revive agriculture instead of giving out relief food. The Ugunja member of parliament said that giving relief food has never been the best solution to lack of enough food. That the government should work hard to make sure that Kenyans are supported to produce their own food.

He said that at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ugunja Town. He said that some places in the country has good climatic conditions and good soil and therefore the farmers should be empowered to produce more food.
