The frosty relationship between William Ruto and the President is an open secret. The two have not been seeing eye to eye since Jubilee's second term in office.
This has recently been compounded by a leaked audio in which Deputy President William Ruto is recorded saying that he could have slapped the President. The audio was played by Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed at a campaign rally in Ndhiwa Homabay County.
In the audio William Ruto was allegedly addressing Kikuyu elders at his Karen residence where he told them that Uhuru Kenyatta wanted to give up after the annulment of the 2017 Presidential Elections. It is because of this that Ruto told the elders that he felt that he could slap the President for wanting to give up
The audio leak has brought William Ruto under fire with the Azimio brigade accusing him of being disrespectful to the President. They have even accused Ruto of being responsible for the fallout with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
