He has this morning met close to 1,000 church leaders led by the Mt Kenya West Anglican Cathedral in Nyeri Town. In the event which was broadcast live on Citizen Digital, the United Democratic Alliance Party Leader emphasized the importance of giving to those in need.

Ruto gave a powerful speech that almost felt like a summon, leading him to jokingly state that sometimes he thinks that he may choose to become an evangelist after retiring from politics.

While popularizing his Bottom Up Economic model, Ruto said that he got the inspiration from Psalms 113:7-8, which says, 'He raises the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from their misery and makes them companions of princes, the princes of his people.'

He also pledged his support for the region's Anglican bishop who will soon be retiring, "I will talk to the Chairman in charge of the retirement plans to build a house for the Bishop so that he can give me the account number. I will deposit for you 3 million shillings. If its not enough, you can still look for me."

The Deputy President will today visit Kieni constituency before proceeding to other events in Laikipia county.
