Sportpesa jackpot winner Cosmas Korir has been elected Bomet county speaker. The hotly contested seat saw Korir garner 32 votes in the second round against his close competitor who got 6 votes.
Governor Hillary Barchok has congratulated the newly elected speaker saying they will work closely with him for the good of the people.
"Congratulations Mr. Speaker Sir! I join the Members of the County Assembly of Bomet and the residents of Bomet in congratulating the Hon Cosmas Korir following his election as the Speaker of the third assembly of Bomet," Barchok said.
The speaker contested for the Konoin constituency seat and lost. His bid was fronted by the UDA party and the elected leaders. He took the oath of office immediately after he was announced the winner at the county assembly chambers.
He promised to work with all MCA's to ensure that the work of the assembly is achieved. He also thanked his competitors saying his win is a win for everyone.
