Tanzanians today celebrates one year since the death of their fifth president of Tanzania who was serving his second term of the presidency. Magufuli was first elected as a member of parliament and served in the cabinet of Tanzania as deputy minister of works, minister of works, minister of lands and Human settlement, minister of livestock and Fisheries and later became the president of Tanzania.
Magufuli during his reign, he ran on a platform of reducing government corruption and spending while also investing in Tanzania's industries. Under the presidency of Magufuli Tanzania experienced one of the strongest economic growths on the continent and moved from the category of low income countries to middle income countries.
Magufuli was the only Tanzanian president to die while he was still in office. His death which shocked the world was announced by Vice President Samia Suluhu who revealead that he died from chronic atrial fibrillation at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Dar es salaam.
