On Tuesday, November 22, the perilous Ngomeni zone in Kitui County caused a disruption to Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki's security assessment mission. Gunshots were blasted by armed bandits trying to seize control of a community, briefly cutting Kindiki's message short.
Just a few minutes after Kindiki addressed the resident from the stage, four gunshots blasted the air, agitating the gathering. As the shooting approached, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua was compelled to intervene and request that Prof. Kindiki leave the room.
During the Cabinet Secretary's sightseeing tour to the area, the gunmen who had been terrorizing locals for years made a surprising move. The function was transpiring at Mandongoi Primary School in Mwingi North when the bandits reportedly reached as near as two kilometers. Even as he was leaving the area of combat, Kindiki, who had been escorted by the county security team, cautioned the bandits.
Additionally, he stated that the bandits' shooting directly dared him personally and the national security state. Kindiki predicted that the state, whom the bandits have hated and ignored, will soon inform them of their actions.
Despite the recent spate of senseless deaths in the region, the Kitui system administrator guaranteed the locals of their safety. Additionally, Professor Kindiki spent some time offering condolences to the families of two people killed by robbers.
