On Saturday, January 14, Miguna said he agreed to pardon President Ruto and the Jubilee government.
"President William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief, earlier today apologized to me on his behalf and behalf of the government for the cruelty done to me by the outgoing government. I accept his request for forgiveness," Miguna said.
Former commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Roselyn Akombe said that the request was too late and added that no Kenyan deserves to go through what Miguna went through.
"The apology is too late, but the good thing has been done. No human being deserves to go through what Doctor Miguna Miguna went through," Akombe said. In March 2018, Miguna was forcibly expelled from the country and prevented from returning after the Jubilee government imposed travel restrictions on him.
