Kisii governor Simba Arati held a consultative meeting with the Deputy president today. The two leaders met at the deputy president's office in Nairobi.
The Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was given the mandate to coordinate county governments. He was assigned by the president William Ruto to provide a framework for operation between the two levels of government.
Simba Arati is the second governor of the county of Kisii. He was elected in the general elections conducted in August 2022. He previously served as the Member of parliament for Dagoretti constituency.
Arati was elected on an Azimio la Umoja party ticket. He is a close ally of ODM party leader Raila Odinga. He has been a strong member of the party for more than fifteen years.
Last week,Raila Odinga gave permission to his party members to work with the government. He said that this would ensure the citizens benefit from development projects.
