Patrick Wainaina alias Jungle has declared interest in the top seat, with embarking serious online campaigns, projects and empowerment programs in Kiambu. This has sent shockwaves to Nyoro’s and Kabogo's camp.
Patrick Wainaina wa Jungle is the current Member of Parliament for Thika Town Constituency. He is also the founder and CEO Jungle Nuts.
Wainana surprised many when he withstood the Jubilee party wave in Central Kenya during the August 8 general election as an independent candidate. He defeated Jubilee candidate Alice Ng’ang’a and became Thika Town constituency second MP.
Wainaina’s popularity in Kiambu County has been on a higher rise. Wa Jungle has been a sharp critic of Governor James Nyoro. He recently accused Governor Nyoro for taking development project to some parts of the county while abandoning others parts.
It's now a matter of wait-and-see to whether the people of Kiambu County will support his bid.
But ex-Governor William Kabogo influence in the vote-rich county remains unquestionable and cannot be assumed.
With such stiff competition, experts and political analysts are arguing that Governor Nyoro has minimal chances of amassing enough support to retain the gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general elections.
Will the people of Kiambu choose to try new blood at the helm of the County leadership?
