Kenya is currently on the radar as it holds its 12th elections since independence; over 16,000 candidates are eyeing the 1,800 elective posts

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released the number of voters who had cast their votes in the General Election as of the afternoon of Tuesday, August 9.

A total of 22,152,144 voters had enlisted to partake in the General Election being held across the country.

The voter turnout on Tuesday, however, indicated a far cry from the total number of voters in the electoral agency's directory.

As per an update by the elections management body, only 6,567,869 voters had voted as of mid-day.

The votes cast so far are far less than half of the numbers intended by the electoral agency.
