Uhuru Kickstarts His Official Role By Flying to Oversee High-Level Talks in South Africa

Uhuru Kenyatta, a former president of Kenya, is scheduled to travel to South Africa for important peace negotiations to put an end to the conflict between Tigray and Ethiopia.

According to a letter from the African Union dated October 1 that was accessed by Kenyans.co.ke, Uhuru would sit on the panel with Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria and AU High Representative for the Horn of Africa.

On Sunday, October 8, the occasion is planned to occur.

"The Federal Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF are expected to discuss the guiding principles, agenda items, modalities, format, and timelines for the negotiated settlement in order to lay the groundwork for a structured and ongoing mediation process that will lead to a permanent end to the conflict.

"With the assistance of a group of famous and accomplished Africans, H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, the AU High Representative for the Horn of Africa and former president of Nigeria, would coordinate and lead the peace talks. The panelists for the peace talks process will be H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, a former president of the Republic of Kenya, and H.E. Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, a member of the AU Panel of the Wise and a former vice president of the Republic of South Africa "Read the sentence partially.

The president of the National Regional State of Tigray, Debretsion Gebremichael, was the recipient of the letter sent by Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The highest-level effort to halt the war in Ethiopia, which has so far claimed thousands of lives, will be made if Dr. Debretsion confirms his attendance.
