During the meeting, Tiaty MP William Kamket pressed Speaker Cheboi to share details about Speaker Muturi's whereabouts.
Mr. Speaker, I'm concerned about our speaker's whereabouts,” the MP said. “We've read on the internet that the Speaker is under some kind of spell.” “Is our speaker in any danger?”
In his response, the Kuresoi legislator refused to provide specifics but assured the House that Speaker Muturi was fine.
“The speaker has a number of other duties, and today he is dealing with one of them,” said National Assembly deputy speaker Moses Cheboi.
According to sources familiar with Speaker Muturi's rare career break, he is reportedly being groomed to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the kingpin of the Mt. Kenya zone.
