A section of leaders from Kiambu County and who are allied to Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance, UDA now want Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki to be his running mate ahead of the August polls.
The leaders claim that Kindiki has the necessary leadership skills and experience from his tenure as a senator, to fit well in Ruto's shoes for a deputy.
As reported by the People's Daily, the leaders led by former Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a argued that Kindiki has a track record in politics and also in administration, and it is also time to reward the residents of Mount Kenya East for their support towards the previous presidents who were from the Central region.
They also noted that Kindiki's move to drop his gubernatorial bid and take the front seat in popularizing the Kenya Kwanza Alliance across the country, is a proof of his resilience, dedication and hard work, and that his time for a higher position is ripe.
"It's time for the mountain to pay Tharaka Nithi which has been massively supporting the vote-rich region vote in the region’s preferred presidential candidate. We now want to give back and we want Kithure Kindiki who has resiliently and gallantly served this nation given the position," said Ng'ang'a.
Her remarks were supported by aspiring UDA Kiambu Woman Rep Anne Muratha.
Kindiki's names is among others which have been listed as suitable running mates in the KKA camp, others are Anne Waiguru, Ndindi Nyoro, Rigathi Gachagua.
