Prof. Kivutha Kibwana said that following consultations with the people of Makueni and working in concert with the majority of Governors in Kenya he had decided to throw his weight behind Raila Odinga's presidential bid. Kivutha also said that Raila had fought for civil rights and spearheaded the democratization process and was the right person to take Kenya to the next development level.
"I'm young, my ambitions can wait", said Kivutha, adding, "For now Muungano Development Movement Party will work with other parties under Azimio la Umoja to ensure Raila Odinga becomes the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya."

In the meantime Governors and legislators allied to Raila Odinga's Azimio movement converged in Naivasha on Monday and are expected to make a milestone declaration regarding the 2022 Elections.
Meanwhile, Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has stuck to his guns and declared that he will be on the ballot paper as a presidential candidate. With his Ukambani powerbase divided between support for Azimio la Umoja fronted by Ngilu and now Kivutha Kibwana, pundits feel Kalonzo is on a political death wish.
