Uganda's opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has reportedly requested President Museveni to change his wife, Janet Museveni, from the Ministry of Education and Sports to any other ministry that is "less busy".
As reported by the Observer UG, it is said that the party's spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda suggested that the veteran leader's wife should be changed from the ministry which has been immensely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. In his arguments, Mr Nganda said that the ministry of Education and Sports needs a person who is readily available to monitor any changes in the sector and tackle the challenges.
Mr Nganda also argued that wifely duties might make it hard for Mrs Museveni to effectively tackle challenges that are involved in her current ministry since it needs a person who is available and accessible at any time.
Recently, after Janet Museveni was reappointed by President Museveni, she has received a lot of criticism that she isn't always readily available even during the parliament accountability committees.
However, the Ministry of Education and Sports's spokesperson Dr Dennis Mujimba declined to make any comment to the media claiming that the FDC's requests are just opinions and that they can't be taken seriously.
