Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta is the fourth president of Kenya after retired president Mwai Kibaki. He took over the presidency in 2013 and was re_elected in 2017 general election hence, his terms of office ends in the next general election. As Kenyan president Uhuru has a key role to play in the determination and of course handing over power come next year. These includes:
Just like president Mwai Kibaki, president Uhuru Kenyatta needs to create accondusive environment for all presidential hopefuls in Kenya. This will allow all the aspirants to sell their ideas and ideologies to Kenyans without fear. As the outgoing president he should show love and intend peace to all irrespective of there political stand.
The president need to realise the rule of law or the Constitution. In this way Uhuru should refrain from such words like "I will not hand over power to a chief" the Constitution says all suspects are innocent untill proven guilty by the court of law. Therefore, if there is any presidential hopeful who is a chief it's only the court that can determine that, besides it's not the president who elect the next president rather it's the people of Kenya. Donald Trump never liked Joe Biden but he is the USA president. I advise the president to allow the people to decide.
In a hot contested election like this, president Uhuru Kenyatta should not name his successor. The president need to understand that the presidency is a unity figure in Kenya, therefore, if he can fail to name his successor then it's for the benefit of the people of Kenya and the nation in general.
The president through the finance ministry need to avail the required money by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission so as to run there affairs effectively a head of the election.
The president through the interior ministry should provide enough security to both the IEBC team and the general public in this election mood. Towards the election, security has been a threat in Kenya.
