One man however took advantage of the commotion and tried to get DP Ruto’s attention by grabbing his hand while Ruto’s bodyguards were standing next to the car.
A huge crowd had gathered to welcome DP Ruto as excited residents escorted his convoy but at some point when entering Maua Town, the convoy stopped as residents surrounded Ruto’s car.
The crowd that was behind Ruto’s car however started to demand for UDA campaign materials such as shirts and caps that were being thrown to the crowd.
The residents crowded the car that was behind Ruto’s car and in the video, they are seen shouting at the person who was giving out the items.
The commotion caught the attention of the DP who was on top of his car waving to the crowd and he turned to see what was happening.
Ruto’s security detail at that moment was trying to control the crowd as the residents pushed each other demanding for the items from the man who was also on top of the car.
As the DP was concentrating with what was happening behind, one man grabbed Ruto’s hand and quickly let go of it before Ruto’s bodyguards who had surrounded his vehicle realized what had happened.
Ruto who was smiling after seeing how the Maua residents were “fighting” for the UDA material turned and stretched out his hand thinking the person who grabbed his hand wanted to greet him.
The DP wanted to fist bump the man but his bodyguards had already pushed him back and Ruto started to scratch his hand after no one greeted him back.
Ruto continued looking at the commotion while laughing as he signaled for the crowd to calm down before his motorcade continued moving.
Here is the video of Ruto arriving in Maua.
