The 2022 presidential elections will no doubt be a two-horse race between the current Deputy President William Ruto and Odm leader Raila Odinga. The two leaders have been identified as the leading candidates with the likes of Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, And Gideon Moi playing second fiddle to the proceedings.
The Deputy President has been very active in the past few months as he looks to popularize his Hustler nation narrative where he has been advocating for the adoption of the bottom-up economic model in place of the trickle-down economics.
On the other hand, Raila has been championing for unity through the Azimio la Umoja initiative which looks to bring Kenyans together ahead of the highly anticipated 2022 general elections.
The two camps have differed in their agenda. Earlier today, Ruto's team continued to sell their agenda in Bungoma where they reiterated their desire to gather power. During the rally, one of Ruto's key allies Rashid Echesa made controversial statements about their plan when they take power. According to Echesa, they are tired with being led and that their time to reap big has finally come.
Echesa's statements will no doubt cause lots of controversy in the next few days.
