Kenyans praised Ruto's decision to wear a mask, saying it was the correct thing to do, and that he is a law-abiding person who respects Covid-19 containment protocols because he cares about the lives of all Kenyans. His move was praised since other politicians frequently flout official norms, making them appear superior to the law, but Ruto does the right thing.
Apart from that, Ruto spoke on Kenyan unity and urged politicians to set politics aside and focus on rebuilding the economy, which most people believe is currently sinking due to the spike in commodity prices. He also drummed up support for his presidential bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta next year.
