Meru Azimio Leaders Protest After Martha Karua’s Visit, Criticize Munya Over Divisive Politics

A day after the Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate nominee Martha Karua ended her two-day-tour in the county, Azimio leaders in the region have allegedly protested over divisive politics in the region.

This comes after top leaders in the county led by Governor Kiaritu Murungi and Igembe North legislator Maoka Maorwe skipped the said rally, with their whereabouts being not known.

In an interview with the local television in the county, Governor Kiraitu had earlier on pointed out that Peter Munya is secretly meeting and funding Women rep Kawira Mwangaza who is eyeing to unseat him in the gubernatorial seat despite both of them being in Azimio.

This has brought about back-breakings that have seen leaders and aspirants drawn from the Jubilee, Mbus and other Azimio la Umoja affiliate parties express their vexation with Munya’s decision of disbarring them from the meeting.

After governor Kiraitu grumble, the Devolution empowerment party executive director Haron Abuana also pointed out that the move by CS Munya has brought disunity within the Azimio alliance in Mount Kenya region. “We are saddened by Munya’s recent moves aimed at killing the Coalition from within. The Governor and other Azimio leaders and aspirants in Meru must be respected and involved in all campaign activities in the region.” He said.

UDA gubernatorial aspirant Mithika Linturi was also not pleased by CS Munya’s way of doing things and therefore went ahead to give his views concerning the same. “Munya should focus on his job and leave politics to politicians. If he thinks he will deliver the Meru vote by excluding every other Azimio leader, he is greatly mistaken.” Linturi said.

We are not happy with his style of doing things. He decided not to involve the top Azimio leadership in Meru in organizing the meetings. Not even the Secretary General Maoka Maore or the County Governor were informed.” the senator added.
