Mizani Africa research organization opinion polls have predicted that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidiates would sweep gubernatorial, senatorial and Women Representative seats in August 2022 general election.
According to the polls which were shared on Facebook by the organization on Tuesday, the deputy president Dr William Ruto-led party would take over the entire top leadership of the county because in the gubernatorial race, the incumbent governor Mutahi Kahiga will emerge the best with 49.5%. The current senator Ephraim Maina will emerge second with 33.7%. Gachara Kamanga will take the third position and the rest would score less than 10% each. In the senatorial race, UDA nominee Wahome Wamatinga led with 47.3% of the polls. Former Mukurweini constituency Member of Parliament Kabando Wa Kabando became number two with 17.5%. Ex-Women Representative Priscilla Nyokabi emerged third with 15.6%. Wambugu Nyamu had 13.6%. Others had a total of 2% and 4% were the undecided lot.
In the county Women Member of Parliament race, the current lawmaker Rahab Mukami would retain her seat with 48.9% according to the survey. Jacinta Wahome occupied the second position with 28.5%. Margaret Gachagua followed with 8.9% and others, together with the undecided group were below 7% each.
This comes after Dr Ruto appointed Mathira MP Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua as his runningmate in the August 2022 presidential election. Gachagua was a staunch supporter of UDA party DP Ruto. He was extremely loyal to the Kenya Kwanza formation and amongst its founders.
UDA has got Members of County Assembly (MCAs), MPs, Women Representatives, senator and governor aspirants in the county ahead of the next polls.
