Mucheru Accuses DP Ruto of Sabotaging State Programmes

ICT and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Joseph Mucheru yesterday accused Deputy President William Ruto of sabotaging the government.

Mr Mucheru portrayed the DP as an economic saboteur who is determined to capture power by anymeans.

"Our young people should not be reduced to spectators. They should be active participants in political processes. After all, it is them perhaps rear chickens and cows in their backyards. It is them, not those rearing 200,000 chickens, that will suffer when the country burns," the CS said during the closing the first National University Students Convention on Youth, Peace and Election at the University of Nairobi.

It is the second time in as man. weeks that Mr Mucheru has attacked Dr Ruto.

During the launch of National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) report on the state of youth fragility on August 23, Mr Mucheru accused the DP of giving young people empty promises.

He also dismissed the bottom-up economic model being propagated by Dr Ruto and his team as archaic.

Mr Mucheru stuck to the script during yesterday's event that brought together students from public and private universities from all over the country.

He praised the March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga, saying it de-escalated tensions in Kenya.

They speak peace while holding daggers behind their backs. They believe in the maxim that for you to have peace, there must be war This can only lead to anarchy"he added.

"When Uhuru is pressing the acccelerator for economic growth, others are pressing the brakes and trying to wrest the steering wheel from him. We must and should avoid the passengers of doom and destruction."Mr Mucheru's remarks come in the wake of revelations by his Interior colleague Fred Matiang'i that Dr Ruto has been misusing presidential escort guards.

Dr Matiang'i told the National Assembly Committee on Security on Wednesday that the DP has assigned four officers to two of his allies whose security was withdrawn on account of criminal charges.

He said Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Kapseret's Oscar Sudi are enjoying the services of the presidential escort on Ruto's directives.

"I have come to believe politics is not about the truth. It is More about propaganda. We ask the Church us to help get the truth,"Mr Mucheru said.
