Nana Gecaga, President Uhuru Kenyatta's niece, is a proud woman who overcame her addiction to alcohol.
Nana revealed on her Instagram page that she hasn't drunk alcohol in 22 years and thanked everyone who helped her recover from alcoholism.
She went on to say that she is committed to staying sober for the rest of her life and that her road to sobriety has not been easy.
“I HAVE BEEN SOBER FOR 22 YEARS TODAY.... I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far... Finally, I'd like to thank ME, MYSELF, AND I...
I must give credit where credit is due... I've remained COMMITTED TO MY SOBRIETY, ALWAYS putting it first, and I'm very PROUD of where I've come and where I'm going.
It takes COURAGE to go against the grain, and it takes HUMILITY to not only recognize that you have a problem, but then commit to changing it for the better for the rest of your life,” she wrote on Instagram.
Nana previously stated in an interview that she would consume an entire crate of beer and a bottle of hard liquor per day.
“I would drink 24 beers (a crate a day) and a half or full bottle of liquor,” she explained.
Nana began drinking alcohol at a young age while living in the United Kingdom.
