In the run-up to the August General Elections, the Kikuyu Council of Elders has broken its silence on who they will endorse as Kenya's 5th President.
Mr. Gathogo Gikonyo, a former Starehe Parliamentary candidate, is in charge. They have pledged to carry out President Uhuru Kenyatta's orders.
"We are going to follow President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta since he is the spokesperson for the greater Mount Kenya Region."
"Whoever President Uhuru Kenyatta asks us to back as his successor, we will have no choice but to do so."
President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is a known supporter of Raila Odinga's presidency. He's also urging Kenyans to elect Raila Odinga as the country's fifth president.
Mama Ngina Kenyatta also gave a passionate message to the people of Mount Kenya, urging them to follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's lead.
Former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga and DP William Ruto will face off in a political battle for the presidency in 2022.
